"The classroom" scene description

Jess is the director Instead of taking place in an office, it will take place in a classroom Slightly more juvenile Teenagers Lily contributed the idea for her to hold up a notebook with words on it to show the teacher in the scene As we practised, the group make it their own Kylie acted extra mad when the students talked when asked not to Jeff leaned forward a lot in his seat when watching the character open the wrapper, and he also exaggerated when he shushed Brooklyn Jordan made his part more natural by adding a little of his own dialogue when talking to the teacher near the end of the scene All of the group adopted their roles well like stated above which contributed to the comedy aspect Brooklyn is casted as Jamie(jim) Jordan is casted as Kevin Hannah is casted as (Dwight) Jeff is casted as Andy Lily is casted as the person eating through the window Kylie is casted as the teacher The director placed the characters in a specific ord...

My Director's Proposal

1. The scene in The Office where they are trying to stay silent, but then Kevin Malone breaks the silence. 2. It will have 4 characters. They would be Jim Halpert, Kevin Malone, Dwight Shrute, and Andy Bernard, but we could switch up the roles. 3. I would make it unique by making it funny and even turn the racoon into an actual character.  4. It could be a good choice for the class because we could use multiple actors. It would be good for the space because it takes place in an office and we could use the tables and chairs to set the scene, and spread out the people a little bit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YTG9vTkhGs

City Of Stars Director's Vision Idea

As a director,  I th ink it would be very cool if there were 4 or 5 other actors in the scene, but they wouldn't move. They would be stuck in the same position for the entirety of the scene, such as sitting at a table in a "restaurant", or standing talking to each other. They would all have someone near them. The only person who would move would be the main character. When her line is "a dance,", she would usually turn and do a little spin on the stage as if she was dancing. She would do the same thing, except she would dance around the people who are still. The main spotlight will be on her as she moves, but I think a blue light on the still people could really portray sadness, but when she get happier and does the spin, the surrounding lights on the still actors would turn bright, not blue. The main emotion would be sad, then happy when she dances, but when the lights fade out, she would sit on the bench as always, but this time 4 or 5 non-moving people are s...

Director's Unit Introduction Notes

Article: What is the core emotion? Experience “Man in Chair” Maybe put some characteristics of themselves in the show Imagination “through their eyes” Videos: Shakespeare Ideas from history can still resonate with modern audiences Henry V(play) is about a immature man who needs to grow up when he becomes king Henry V(the play)= war, huge decisions, why should/shouldn’t he go to war? “Spring Awakening” has contrast between historical speak and modern slang This makes the show more exciting for the audience Same set as in another location New costume designs Dynamic? Main action? Main action/intention→ propels the whole story forward “A Comedy of Errors”--> intention/theme= outsiders Tribulations of leaving home Whose point of view is the director projecting? Shakespeare is a common resource in a lot of productions Clear locations- can you tell where they are/what they are doing? Ideas always begin wi...

Mini Tech project reflection

For my mini tech project, my group did Jeff’s original monologue. It was about a person calling his friend to ask if they could go out and ride skateboards together. It is a comedy that we adapted because originally, there was only one person in the scene. We incorporated two other people to make it more of a scene. There was Jeff as the main character(who was calling), Jordan as the friend of the main character, and me as the sister who keeps picking up the phone. My part as the sister was originally going to be the mother, but we changed it. We did this because as we practiced, we realized that the attitude of the character didn’t fit a “mother” persona, but more as an annoyed sister. I felt this made the whole scene even better. To do this, I had to really channel the annoyed younger sister part of myself, because I do have a couple brothers(that annoy me very often). My job was to walk between out of frame and in the frame, and one thing I had to make was not to rush this, or sp...

How Would I Stage A Peer's Song-ologue?

One song-ologue that I think would be cool to stage would be Kylie’s song-ologue from Beauty And The Beast, which is called “Belle”. This song is about the main character Belle walking through her village and talking about what she sees. I think Kylie staged it well already, because she actually walked during her song-ologue as though she was pointing out all the people and things she saw. One way I could stage this would be to add a painted background. It could be painted with old-fashioned houses because the movie takes place in earlier years. Most of the buildings would be a tan or white, because Belle needs to stand out from her surroundings. During the song, it talks specifically about a man carrying bread, so there could be a bakery/bread shop building painted on the background. There could also be an extra character who doesn’t say anything, but is carrying bread like what it says in the song-ologue. The buildings would be one story houses since it’s Victorian times. The would ...

Costume Design Reasearch

Costume Design→ Actor must be comfortable It has to be able to “go” with a lot of the scenes Portray the story Support the character’s role Goes with the style of the other actors and the play as a whole Character’s personality Sketch ideas, research the fabrics Speak with a “cutter” Deciding the materials Used in a rehearsal to see if it works so far Colors schemes- can’t be mismatched Fittings Going to all the rehearsals Lots of adjusting Analyze the character Collaborate with the director- make sure they think your ideas fit with their vision Work as a team with other people in the production community Final drawings are checked over by the “Head of Wardrobe” Can’t constrict the breathing or movement What time period is the production based in? Accurate to time period If it has a corset or tight dress, it can’t constrict the breathing or movement or the actor Body shapes Make it look as ...
