How Would I Stage A Peer's Song-ologue?

One song-ologue that I think would be cool to stage would be Kylie’s song-ologue from Beauty And The Beast, which is called “Belle”. This song is about the main character Belle walking through her village and talking about what she sees. I think Kylie staged it well already, because she actually walked during her song-ologue as though she was pointing out all the people and things she saw. One way I could stage this would be to add a painted background. It could be painted with old-fashioned houses because the movie takes place in earlier years. Most of the buildings would be a tan or white, because Belle needs to stand out from her surroundings. During the song, it talks specifically about a man carrying bread, so there could be a bakery/bread shop building painted on the background. There could also be an extra character who doesn’t say anything, but is carrying bread like what it says in the song-ologue. The buildings would be one story houses since it’s Victorian times. The would also be a painted gravel road at the bottom of the painted background. I think the costumes are also very important to this song-ologue. I would stage it as the main character wearing an old-fashioned dress, probably from somewhere in the mid 1700s, because that’s when the movie takes place. The dress would be blue, like in the movie, because it shows how Belle is different from all the bland buildings and people around her. One prop that Kylie would hold is a book, because I want to incorporate that from when she performed it herself. The book would be a bigger book so that people know it’s an important part of the character- we all know Belle loves books. She talks about a certain part in her book as she’s walking and holding the book, and she would point to her book when this sentence comes, like Kylie did when she performed to the class. I think the set design should be a long, straight path, so that Kylie has room to walk as she’s talking. I think it would be cool if for the lighting, there was a bright spotlight that followed Kylie as she walked. This would show that she is the main character and that the audience should focus on her.

I think I grew a lot in my confidence since the start of this semester. In the beginning, I was kinda shy and wasn’t that fond of preforming in front of people. But now, I gained a lot of preforming confidence and am ablw to act or direct without being a little hesitant. Reflection of "The Classroom" Scene

I think that one of our group's strengths was our use of props. We used pencils, paper, a notebook(for Lily's sign), and some of us even used our own shoes(Jordan). Even though they are small, these props, I think, helped to set the scene well. The pencils and paper helped the scene to have a classroom-type vibe. Also, Hannah used one of the pencils to break it and throw it, which I think contributed to the comedy theme and her character's personality. Lily's sign and Jordan using his shoes really just made the scene a lot more funny. I also think they all did a really great job of improvising. I think this because an example is how Jordan used his shoes, and Hannah broke the pencil. They both improvised this, and by doing that, they made it seem a little more natural. Silent Movie First Draft Reveiw

Strengths and weaknesses One strength would be the `colors of the scene. It makes it more dramatic and sad looking. Another strength would be our storyline and plot, which we think are clear for the audience. One weakness of us might be that some of our scenes are a bit confusing. However, we have been figuring that out. We are thinking we could re-do a couple of scenes to make it less confusing, and zooming in on pictures closer so people can see them.
