What Is Theatre To Me?

In my opinion, theatre is something to appreciate. It’s apparent that it takes a lot of effort to invest a lot of your time into a theatre project. For people like me who have never performed or participated in a production yet, I think it’s necessary to acknowledge all the hard work done for your enjoyment, and theatre is a prime example of that.
It’s great to immerse yourself in any form of art performance! For me, theatre(especially musicals), merge me into the story, so I feel like I am right there with the performers. Traveling to a city for a big Musical has a sort of adventure-like vibe that I love to do once in a while. All the strong emotions the actors and actresses portray really touch me. It’s probably one major reason why people keep coming back. To be so invested in what you do, and when it’s so apparent when you do it, gives me satisfaction to be there witnessing something so wonderful as a musical on Broadway.
Whether it’s starring in a school play, watching a show in New York, or designing intricate costumes, theatre has something for everyone to enjoy. Theatre is more than performing, and I think that’s a main reason why it pulls people in. Also, when people are passionate about things like acting, or singing, theatre is a wonderful outlet to do that.
Like I said earlier, I've never performed, but I infer lots of things about theatre are not easy to do. One thing that comes to mind is memorizing and nailing your lines. This seems like a very difficult task, especially when so many people are watching you.
In my experience, theatre “pulls me in”, so one thing for performers to learn is how exactly to do that. How does one capture an audience? How can someone direct and possibly write a really interesting piece for those who are watching and performing it? These are, I believe, are really important for people in theatre to think about.
A couple other things for performers to think about are that if you are so passionate about something like theatre, go all the way! Theatre is a big thing to be a part of, so performers should give all they got to help everyone they’re working with, and themselves, succeed.
