Reflection of "The Classroom" Scene

I think that one of our group's strengths was our use of props. We used pencils, paper, a notebook(for Lily's sign), and some of us even used our own shoes(Jordan). Even though they are small, these props, I think, helped to set the scene well. The pencils and paper helped the scene to have a classroom-type vibe. Also, Hannah used one of the pencils to break it and throw it, which I think contributed to the comedy theme and her character's personality. Lily's sign and Jordan using his shoes really just made the scene a lot more funny. I also think they all did a really great job of improvising. I think this because an example is how Jordan used his shoes, and Hannah broke the pencil. They both improvised this, and by doing that, they made it seem a little more natural. But it wasn't just them; everybody helped to make the scene be more natural. As the director I couldn't tell them the exact movements and what to do with their parts, and they did a great job of interpreting the whole scene and script that I gave to them. It was also really important that they did that, because the scene is mostly just acting and not very much talking, and I could only describe my vision so much. I think one of my strengths would be creating the script, and trying to describe what I was thinking to them, because it was a little hard since there was a lot of movement involved, but I think I ended up doing it pretty well.
One weakness of the group would be the overall flow of the scene. We did work on it a little when we were practicing, but I think it could use just a tiny bit more work. By flow, I mean the fluidity between each event after the next. The way we did it, it was easy to understand and all, but some of it was a little vague. And I think one weakness of mine would be that my vision for Lily's part was a little vague. We needed to work through it and figure it out as we went, which was a little unorganized at times.
Overall though, I think we all did a good job, and the scene ended up actually being funny.
